Dad's got an '06 XJ8L. Sister is driving it to help him out while he's in the hospital. She just stopped at Walmart and locked the car. When she came out from her shopping, all the windows and sunroof were open. Any thoughts as to what might have happened?

Do you know if she locked it with the fob or with the key?

If with the key, did she inadvertently turn it the wrong way and hold it waiting to hear the locks click as that would have started the car’s “windows down/sunroof open” feature.

 

My guess is locked with the fob, but I'll ask. Good info - thanks very much

 

She found something online describing a "universal open" by holding a button on the fob, too. We're guessing that's what actually happened.... Thanks!

 

Sometimes when a lady places the keyfob in her purse, during the normal
course of activity, an adjacent item might hold the unlock button down with-
out her knowledge. If the Jaguar is in range, it will respond.
