Glovebox door latch mechanism
Hello! I have a 2001 XJ8, and my glove box door wont stay shut because the latch mechanism is all gummed up. (The 2 rods don't come back out to catch in the holes) I think all I need to do is take it apart and clean it. However I can't figure out what tool takes off the 3 connections that secure the latch to the door! I thought they were very small Allen bolts, but it looks like they may be rivets !! (Why would they do that!!!) If I end up having to drill them out, how do I reattach the latch to the door? Thanks in advance for any advice. And keep on Jagen!!, Anthony.
The cubby door is a problem, especially in the colder months.
I just spray some silicon lube and move the rods back and forth until they free up.
Petroleum based lubes smell and might damage the plastic?
