Good Things -- 2003 XJ8
I have been a member of many car websites over the years, and I think you'll mostly agree, that most of the posts are about problems that we experience. This is a natural result of these kinds of sites -- I call them help sites. We reach out to others who have the same or similar car and ask for help fixing a problem, etc. Well, once in a while it's nice to say something good! LOL
Here goes.
I bought my 2003 XJ8 on Wednesday afternoon. I drove it about 50 miles and then went home and packed the trunk with all my camping gear and other stuff and went to bed. Got up before the sun came up and started my drive from Florida to Wisconsin, with one planned stop on the way in Kentucky.
In short, all I can say is WOW! This car really loves being on the road! It handles beautifully, has enough power on the highway, and rides like a cloud. I drove in dry conditions, and pouring rain. I started out in the dark in the morning and drove all day and into the night, through heavy stop-and-go traffic on the Interstate and in thunderstorms as the sun was going down. At no time did I feel like the car was anything less than a well-tuned machine that I could rely on in the mountains of Tennessee and the flats of Ilinois.
The best thing -- my *** isn't even sore after two days and almost 1,500 miles! LOL I love this Cat!
Just wanted to pass along some positive comments!

Obviously it looked good at the gas station! Got lots of looks and few "Nice car!" comments!
BTW I drive conservatively but not slow. I use the power of the car when needed to pass or get around slow traffic, etc. In other words, I don't dog it. I still got close to 24 mpg on the average for the entire trip! I think that's pretty darn good! Also means to me that the engine is running pretty good, too.

Congrats ... you got the best year of one of the best sedans Jaguar ever made.
You will find that you can sucker SUV's into situations where they suddenly tighten their sphincter muscles because they followed you into a curve where you didn't have to slow down. Serves them right for tailgatiing
Still trying to find a position where the seats don't cause a thigh cramp in the right leg though.

I'm glad you got the car!
I remember when you were merely a prospective Jaguar buyer...
now, it's the real deal! Check your tyre inflations and oil level, these
helped me gain 1mpg or so in the first week of ownership. Also, do
your oil filter. (More MPG!)
Cheers on the great new Jag. Can't wait to see those photos!
