On my 01 XJR, they come on at odd times usually when I first get into the car and start it up. I can see that the windshield is progressively getting scratched due to the dry wiping and will probably need a new windshield but want to get the erratic wiper activation fixed first. I am not sure that the car has rain sensing wipers or not but maybe that is the problem. Anyone had experience with this? Thanks.

 

does the wiper stalk have the word AUTO on it? if so push stalk down one notch.. the sensor behind the rear view mirror may be faulty..
