Default Has my suspension dropped a little on the front

I was wondering if you guys could take a look at a couple of pics for me or provide any measurements for X308 XJR ride heights.

Im sure the time and weight is starting to take a toll what you guys think? Maybe the back has dropped a little to? How does your cat sit compaired with mine? Car is empty but with full tank of petrol.

Excuse the poor photos, just trying to give you an idea....

The UK/ROW XJR of that year has a lower ride height than other models. The specifications can be found in the specifications booklet or the vehicle care booklet.

The ride height of the car is measured from the centre of the wheel to the apex of the wheel arch, through the wheel centre line. For the European XJR models, the ride heights are as follows, assuming a full tank of fuel:

Front: 366mm

Rear: 358mm

From your photos is does look as if the front is sitting slightly low-unless it's a trick of the light & photographic angle...

L80OUS, just went and measured my xjr [also a 98 with cats] and it is exactly 26" (660 mm approx.) at the front and 25 5/16" (643 mm approx.) at the rear. measured from the ground to the bottom of the wheel arch, using the centre cap as datum. 8j 18 penta wheels with Pirelli P Zero 255/40 18, tyre pressures are 28 psi front and 31 psi rear, cold (trying to snow) 3/4 tank of fuel, but some tools and parts in boot so should equate to roughly a full tank. the old girls done 105 k. hope this is of some use.

This is the document you need-the ride height specs can be found on page 69:

Vehicle Specification (1998-2003 all models).pdf

The XJR sits pretty much level, so your front & rear ride heights-whatever they measure out at-should be roughly the same...

Thanks guys just had a quick measure:

Front it showing 348mm at the front from the middle of the center cap, hope this is correct? (644mm from the floor) and 358mm on the rear (floor not measured)

So it appears im about 18mm out on the front (when measured from middle of center cap). But spot on on the rear. OR 10mm out if you say it should be the same as the rear....

What will cause the front to drop and what needs replacing?

The rear is dead-on if it is 358mm. The front seems to have dropped 18mm as you say.

The indicaton is that the front springs have sagged, or were replaced with lower ones at some point.

Unless it bothers you, or tracking cannot be set properly, there is no absolute need to do anything. Lots of people look for ways to drop the ride height and pay for the privilege. You have it already

And with a nice front down rake too.

It has a minor effect on handling in that the CG on the front is now lower so the rear is a little bit tail happy.

In steady state cruising, your tires are by far the biggest factor.
