FYI - got the headlining in my XJ8 VdP repaired today at C. Fredricks in Charlotte NC. Total cost (including the sun roof panel) was $400+tax. Dropped the car off at 10:30am picked it up at 4:30pm. Pricey but they turned it 'round quickly and did a fantastic job - it looks brand new and I would highly recommend them.

Was quoted $495+tax and 2 days by another shop in town.

Any recomendations for shop in or around Edison, New Jersey for headliner repair?

 

I found this place by Googling "automotive interior repair charlotte", so hopefully there will be something in Edison if you googled that. The guys I used said they did a Jag last week and offered me the contact details to follow up if I wanted a reference. Good luck - sure feels a whole lot better knowing the roof is sorted.
