Heated Mirrors?

I received the inspection report on an 03 XJR I am looking to buy. The passenger side mirror is cracked. I was pricing replacements and found none that are heated. What gives? Do all Jag owners garage their cars and have no use for heated mirrors? Seems like an oversight to an otherwise well-equipped car.

There's no such thing as an unheated exterior mirror for these cars. My guess is that it just didn't show up on the listing because there's no question about whether or not they're heated. Not trying to be trite, but were you offered a choice between "reflective" mirrors and "non-reflective" mirrors?

That is good news. I saw an offering for "non-heated" mirror glass and thought that since I never saw a heated option that they didn't exist. I also don't remember seeing heated mirrors on the XJ feature descriptions I've read. But I am getting older...
Umm, no. Don't recall seeing any options for non-reflective mirrors. What's the point? Haha

I just went through this with my Mercedes wagon -- some of the mirror glass being offered is nothing more than mirror glass that has been cut to size and is then attached to the cracked OE mirror glass with double sided tape.

One site actually had it listed as "heated" -- since all MB's have heated mirrors in the USA -- this was heated also -- from the original mirror

Just make sure are looking at a direct replacement before you order.

Really?! That sounds like rubbish. No way a stick on mirror could heat up effectively. Perfect application for a shady used car lot. Time to contact Nalley.

Yes ... I agree .. not sure how well the "heat" would work.

The Mercedes glass I was trying to replace was both heated and had the dimming feature controlled from the inside mirror. This is not an uncommon option -- what is uncommon is the $550.00 cost for the factory glass replacement.
