I use Mobil 1 10-40 in both of my cars. I buy it because Walmart has a good price, but there are lots of good oils out there.

Quite simple...these are plastic units so lightas.
Correct torque spec is 8Nm....whatever that is in Inch Pounds ;o)
Correct sequence for tightening is start from the c3enter in a diagonal pattern.
Before tightening down, make sure the mating surface is clean, the ruibber seal is in it's groove and give a wipe with carb cleaner and wipe dry.
These seals need no sealant added except at the mating face of the front timing cover.
A small dab is all that's required.

The tensioners shown are obviously the metal bodied ones, but I note the plastic chain guides are orange in colour. I was always under the distinct impression that the plastic chain guides on 3rd generation metal tensioners are white. Can these be in either colour ?
I understood the white denoted a higher quality plastic part, less likely to show wear over time. I know I am probably totally wrong in this, but could someone clarify for me as I'm thinking of checking mine as well. I have a late 2k 3.2 xj8.
