Replaced my headliner today. I’m guessing most cars are like mine and the rounded triangular trim pieces around where the visor screws in are either missing or cracked. I had the shop just cut a hole wide enough to pass the wire.
Often shops take out the rear window in order to replace the headliner.
If you slide the front seats all the way back, you can insert the headliner slightly folded thru the rear doors.
I replaced headliner of my car. Bought it from Myrtle UK. That folded easily as claimed. Old one falled to peaces when folded. When folded it went in quite easily from back door.
When it comes to headliners, you can replace the headliner using any foam backed fabric you want. I chose to go with suede instead of the factory type material when I replaced mine. I paid around $50 for 85" x 60" roll of headliner material and maybe another $30 for two cans of 3M headliner adhesive spray and did it myself. It's quite easy. I used the fold and remove/reinstall through the rear doors with the front seats reclined method to get the headliner in and out of the car.
In your case did you re-cover your headliner or put a new one in it? It sounds like you took the old one out laid it down and then put new material on it and reinstalled it if so that would be a cheap way to do it
Thanks fellas, this job is on my to do list. You answered my questions before I could ask them.
One thing, where does one purchase the fabric? , from a regular fabric / sewing supply place or an automotive type place?
Brian, can you elaborate on "any foam backed fabric". Is it that simple?
