sthesitation? No other indication of trouble? Check engine light?

Model, engine size, miles etc would be helpful.

no engine light, or any other problems. just when passing another car, car hesitates between 3000 rpm and 4000rpm.

i wud check the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line right side of engine beside the throttle body.. rightoff the regulator the vacuum line makes a 90 degree bend and in that bend it collapses over time cause vehicle to be too rich.. sometimes does not set codes.. unless if it is severe.

i just realized that a part of my air intake hose, between sensor and throttle body, has duct tape around a crack in the hose.
could this cause the hesitation?? where can i get this hose from??? can't find any online.

That would definitly do it. If it is hose going from intake tube to bank 1 cam cover gasket, it is called the full load breather hose. I think it is only about $20.00 or thereabouts at dealer.

if you talking about the regulator hose having the duct tape on it.. it needs to be replaced.. any jag dealer has the piece .. $5-10

That is like a damper on the intake tube. If it is leaking, will cause unmetered air access to the engine. Could cause the issue. Always fix the obvious first.

Wouldnt surprise me if it was only available on the intake as assembley.
Take off the duct tape and see what is going on with the one you have. Maybe you can repair?

In fact, while you are there, remove coils and see if they are covered in oil.

Also pull the plugs out and have a look at them.
