Hesitation under hard/moderate acceleration...
New member and 1st post...
I have owned my 2001 jaguarXJR for a year now. Ihave had no issues with it so far and love it.
BUT... under hard acceleration... from a red light or when passing someone...it seems to "lose" itself around 3000 rpm range. Hesitating... trying to find itself... then maybe5-8 secs latercatches and takes off noprob.
I have taken it to the dealer and they said they cannot find the issue nor replicateit. I see ithappen often. They basically told me either they can start changing parts (hitor miss method) and make me payfor each part... or for me to just waituntil something fails. It's been 10 months or so andthe issue is the same...
Any advice?

My farther just picked up a 2000 XKR. After about a month it has been having the same problem with hesitation or total loss of power. Usually when he is trying to pass a car on the freeway or accelerating a little hard. It shuts off from 3-10 seconds. Sometimes short and sometimes slowing him down fro 70 to 40 or less. And all the sudden comes backs and takes off fine. I dont believe it is a misfire, no oil. And the dealer says there is no problem with the car. My father says when he pushes the track off button to turn tracktion control off it doesn't really do it nearly as much. And also a random rubbing sound in the rear right tire, but no phyical scatches or info from dealer's service.

I'd have a Jagtech check the fuel psi at different accelleration intervals. It may be being starved at hard accelleration and need a fuel system service (to include a new fuel filter). Also, wouldnt hurt to have a throttle body service, too. I had a very similar issue with mine and it was discovered that my fuel psi was below spec (ie engine was starved for fuel) under hard accelleration. The fuel service and throttle body service cured its issues.

I know it's old, just hoping someone can help. My 2004 XKR is having a hesitation under moderate to medium acceleration. The rpms pick up then drop back for a couple moments then picks up again. If I accelerate to much it takes off fine, like it bypasses something. Fuel filter, MAF, have been changed air tube is tight on both sides, running some cleaner through now.

If you've already tried this or, like your father, swapped the MAF, I've got no suggestions but this costs nothing so give it a try..
