Default Hi everyone

Hi there just thought I would introduce myself. Me and my dad have just recently aqquired a 1998 jaguar xj6 4.0 auto. We have both wanted one for years and took the plunge. It has a few problems but looking forward to getting it on the road and hopefully meeting some of you girls and guys at some events? We are having a problem with auto box as it keeps slipping in drive but works in all the other gears. We have not got a clue what it could be so going to replace the gearbox I think. Apart from that it's a lovely solid motor! I originally posted this in the wrong section for the xj6 so hopefully it second time lucky!

Welcome HPJ, can we get you to put in your location and any other useful info using your User CP (task bar just above your threads title), then under settings and options you can add your info, including the year, model and motor size as you see in most everyone else's posts. This will save you having to post it each time and the info can help those that might be local to you to find a shop or make new friends, since this is a worldwide forum.

You state its slipping....how? When you put it in D, does it start out fine....does it slip at all speeds or certain ones? Have you driven with the manual J-gate and does it do the same?
