Hi folks.

2000 VDP. 72k. Wife had restricted engine performance message, and Check Engine Light (CEL). Wife parked car immediately and called me.

I started car, and it ran a little rough. Opened the hood, and presto, the vacuum line from the air filter box to the valve cover on the passenger side got disconnected somehow.

Reconnected the hose, and voila! Engine ran great. Restricted performance message and light went away, and engine/car runs beautifully.

However, CEL is still on. How do I clear, or will it clear itself?

How do you CLEAR or RESET CEL?

If you take the negative cable off the battery for about 30 seconds it will clear the CEL. It will over time clear on its own too, but who likes seeing the CEL own if all is good?
