How much did you pay for your Jag? (fun survey - % of value when new)
New price in 1997 would have been around DM 110.000, so that would be today about € 55.000, add inflation since 1997, would turn it into € 75.000 (again, that is the inflation sum, so we ought to use that to get the newprice/usedprice combination right).
my XJ8 Executive 3.2l costed € 2.400 in February.
So that means...
75000:100=750 (for 1%)
2400:75=3.2%
So my XJ8 has lost 96.8% of it's value over that last 18 years
I doubt it will be any less valuable!
My XJ-S on the other hand is now gaining massivly here! Bought it for €3.500 (incl. buying in England an co). Estimate sale price: €10.000 at the moment!

Hi all,
Got my STR 2002 last december and the price was about 19 000€. Mileage 77K. As new this had value 125 000€. It is about 1/6 value now-16%.
I know these prices we have in Finland is shocking to other region members but this is due to coverment tax which is very high- in fact it is right behind Denmark.
OT:For examble friend of mine bouht XK8 coupe 1998 from England and it was about 2500€, but if you want to drive it on finnish roads the tax would be abrox 4000€ tax.
Looked the prices on ebay and other market places for STR and other countries you would have MY 2006 STR with lower miles far cheaper than my kitty was...

0.6% at $400 for my 98 Vanden Plas with 114,000mi. Of course it's a work in progress but I love it. Purchased from a Ford dealership non running, needed a fuel pump for $90. Needs a paint job but I work at a body shop. Also did all guides and tensioners for another $400. Needed a new battery but Wal-Mart exchanged it for free. Also a new dipstick for $16. All in all the best car I've ever driven and I've driven quite a few.
I just bought a 2013 Jaguar XJ Portfolio. I have calculated that based on the on the road price, the previous owner in theory lost a massive £1,000 PER WEEK !! ...Which of course meant I got a great car for a fantastic price.
I paid a little over 10% of MSRP for my 97 XJR, which is on the high side of some of the deals here. But it felt right for the quality of the car, and only having not quite 43k miles on the clock.
Still a deal in my book

I worked out I paid 0.5% of the original MRSP!
My friend bought a Jaguar LWB Sovereign car brand new in 2001, and it was $120k (approx., AUD).
He drove it for 4 years, then gave it to his father, who drove it very little for 10 years. In April this year he asked would I like the Jag? How much? Nothing, just enjoy it....
I have replaced the fuel pump ($650), and other than that it is like an almost new car. A couple of things to do, like the ABS module and front bearings and bushes need replacing soon.
But for the price, it is a bargain!

Brought my first XJ sport 3.2 1996 reg (190,000m) in 2012 for £500
Brought my X-Type 2.5 Classic 2002 reg (75,000m) in 2012 for £1900
Brought my XJ Sport 3.2 1998 reg (66,000m) in 2015 for £1100
First XJ Sport overheated a couple of months after I got it, my X-Type has had only one big fix so far at £400 for the radiator and water pump (rear squeaking shocks to be fixed yet), and my new XJ still has yet to have tensioners/tower/thermostat done
I am not sure of original prices but believe the X-Type Classics were £21000 new
