Default How much oil do I use for a bore wash attempt

I can only find “some”. Are we talking about .5 ml or 50ml? I was going to order an eye dropper.

2000 xj8 vdp

thanks!

Just enough to put a film on the walls.

1 tsp. is enough. Then spin with the plugs out to distribute the oil.

Hold the pedal to the floor to disable the injectors and turn the key to start for about 10 sec. before replacing the plugs. Lay a towel over the heads to avoid spraying oil everywhere.

Thanks very much.

just got the belt on and crankshaft sensor in. So off to try this.

i got pissed at the mechanic shop and had it towed back home.

somehow they were running all the tests, which I had to pay for of course, and trying to start the car without a serpentine belt. Still not sure how that worked.

so for $1500 I got two tows, a new alternator and installation, and the original crankshaft sensor removed. What a deal!

Reminds me of my car in paint last year, I explicitly explained that the car needed to be on the already set-up battery maintainer while sitting(all you have to do is plug it in). Not even 5 days later I get a call stating the car won't start, what he didn't tell me was that he tried numerous X to start it. So I had to travel to the shop, we explored inertia switch etc. Finally he tells me he tried numerous time to start using the gas pedal etc. I send him the detailed bore wash procedure from the forum here. He gets it started again & puts in new plugs. Then wants to tack the bore wash incident time & costs to the paint bill. I was like "No sir if you would've listened to my instructions(verbal, text, email) concerning the charger this wouldn't have happened, as it never has before in my tenure w/ the car. He's an honorable guy so he ate the plugs etc. cost but it really got me a bit perturbed @ the time lol.

I love how some mechanics think that they know everything, and won’t listen to a non mechanic.

i spent yesterday putting everything together, even the washer solution container. Not sure why they took that out. Did exactly what I told them... though I admit I forgot to tell them that a serpentine belt had to be installed for it to start.

she purrs today!

pistons and timing chains my @ss!

thanks all, so very much.
