I'm swapping out all the burl in my 2002 x308 and would like to know if anyone can tell me how to remove the panel that the passenger air bag sits under?

All the other dash pieces simply pull out, but this one seems to be different?

You've found that it is held tighter than the other pieces. You wouldn't want that panel flapping around when the airbag goes off. Simply pull really really hard. I started on the left and wrapped my fingers around the back. Sometimes two hands is necessary. Just pull hard. Try to avoid tools since that can damage the wood.
