Default I am a HID fan and would like to install in my 98

I know this topic has been like on how bad or good they are, if they a up or down grade, so lets not get on that topic.

Most of my cars came factory with them and some I installed, over the years I've learned how to adjust them to avoid blinding on coming traffic, by installing a cut off plate, a ideal from BMW.

The XJR headlight looks to be sealed and unable to modifiy the interior of them. It looks like I would have to cut, install and glue back together.

OR

Will the X350 headlight with the intergrated turnsignal fit with some modding, I know the mounting bracket is different, but is the headlight itself the same size as the X308.

OR

Better yet, where can I source the X308 headlight assembly with the cut off plate, I have searched on UK ebay and can't find any.

Thanks,
SGB

The x350 is a totally different car and the x308 headlights are an assembly -- and they are very expensive .......... so if you mess it up.

I have always been impressed with the headlights on the x308 -- while they were not up to the best of the HIDs at the time they were actually better then some.

With the upgraded bulbs they are a bit better - but the bulbs don't last as long.

I have a replacement set, I sourced from a salvage yard for $25.00 and they would be my Frankenstein.

I do agree the headlights are really impressive for halogen bulbs, but really I am going to the style/looks more than function. Well, I take that back, they do have to function equal or better than OEM, then what is the point right.

I also like to be different than my counter partners, to stand out in a crowd.

I just notice the X350 headlight is more egg shaded and the x308 round, so retrofitting is out the question. I start off with the fogs lights, see how that plays outs.

I have HID conversion headlight with pure white H7 6000k,light bulb.

performance wise, I don't see any comparison with conversational halogen bulb.that is absolute most-worthy upgrade for your car per dollar . I really cant tell about blinding other incoming car situation but I don't think we are the only one doing that and our cars are not a SUV with high ground level.

I am also thinking about the retrofit projector with the OEM headlight assemble.with some time and patient. it will work and some one did it before.

I did the fog light full conversion and posted my thread on the forum.

What and where did you get the kit from, do you have the problem with the auto on feature or do you just keep them off until ready for usage?

You will when someone takes strong exception to getting blinded by your lights.
