Fixing broken cable on driver’s door and this part fell out. Where does it go?

 

I have been in my door cards a number of times and have never seen that part. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist in it, but I've had mine all apart (replaced exterior handle weather seals, new speakers, broken lock post linkage clip, replaced rocker) except the latch itself.

 

It clips onto the inner door handle plastic body, just ahead of the handle's pivot, between the handle and body. It acts as a stop and prevents the door handle from "falling inwards" when let go. Removing it makes servicing the handle cable a bit easier, and it gets reinstalled afterwards.
