Default If I buy an XJ6, will these XJ8 wheels fit?

I have found son affordable XJ6s in the area. I like the body style being similar to the XJ8. It's my assumption that there is less to go wrong with these models. Aside from that...

Do the XJ6 models have the 5x120.65 lug spacing. I have a great looking set of wheels and tires. I have been advertising them, but no takers.

I am going to lower the price, but I don't want to go too low if they could prove useful.

Thanks!

Yes, they will fit.

Any X308 rim will fit an X300 and vice versa, as long as it is minimum 16" in diameter.

Note that Daim mentions the X300, built from 95 to 97. These are considered by many to be the most reliable of the XJ6's. But some electronic parts are getting hard to find.

Yep. Fitting aXJ40 should work too. Fitting them to a Series I-III may be a little awkward due to offset and hub (later vehicles use a different center grease cap which is flatter). They technically will fit but you might not get the center caps on anymore...

He doesn't say which series XJ6 he's bought. & his assumption that the earlier cars were simpler, & therefore had less problems, is just plain wrong. The build quality of the cars got steadily worse throughout the 70s & 80s, mainly due to the state of open warfare that existed between the workforce & British Leyland's management team. A situation that wasn't remedied until years into Ford's stewardship of the company, with the X300 series.

I just ignored that, as my older XJ-S has a lot more to go wrong, even though it actually has less parts...

If he goes as far back as to say a carbed XK engine, well, it is a lot of fun setting up dual or triple SU carbs. Or dried out wires which were laid along hot parts etc.

The ones I was looking at were the last generation of them. Should I look for something pre-OBD2 or a 96-97 model?

Of course, selling more parts (possibly including these wheels) is necessary to me to afford anything.

I would stay with the 95-97 X300. They have a very reliable drive train if properly maintained. My biggest concern would be with the cooling system. Flush and replacement of the coolant was often ignored leading to corrosion of the aluminum hose connections.

I would accept corroded aluminum over completely melted plastic like I experienced on my V8.

I put '90's XJ6 wheels on my 2001 XJ8.

2004 and later XJ8's have a different bolt pattern then pre-2003's.
