Got my can of BG44 through amazon. Put it in today along with my fill up. I will report back if I notice any changes

So I ran a can of BG44 in my XJ, I must say it does seem more responsive & a bit throatier in sound. I will come back with my fuel consumption data when cycle is done.

Default Ever tried straight Acetone?

There are many reports of using an addition of pure acetone (laquer thinner) to the gas tank in order to dissolve out gum deposits. Around 2oz per 10 gallons is the recommended rate.

Is there anyone with experience of that on the XJ8?

I did use it on my previous X-Type and it cleared the catalytic convertor enough to switch the check engine light off.

- marvin :
I remember doing this on my old TR6 - destroyed the metering unit gasket, although I did dump in more than you suggest (it ran like stink for a while though !) .
Acetone is a very powerful solvent and will attack any rubber parts it contacts (including the o-rings in your fuel filter), I would not recommend this , even in small concentrations you may be taking a chance....

I picked up 1.5 MPG one tank w/ BG44, car was running excellent beforehand but did seem a bit peppier, placebo effect ?, maybe but the consumption data is accurate per torque pro.
