No No, it is fully working. The half lit look is due to the fact I took the photo using the camera on my mobile phone, which isn't the best at night.

There isn't a single bulb out in my Jag's interior I'm very proud to say. All of the door switches, cigar lighters, roof switches, buttons, gauges and displays are fully lit. Even the switches for moving the passenger seat from the back light up.

Your car has a switch on the back of the passenger seat? That's so cool! In the US, you'd only ever get one of those on a Vanden Plas.

Yes I have a switch on the seat, but that said my XJ8 isn't your standard run of the mill XJ8...

It is for the rear passenger to move the seat or for a chauffeur to move the seat for a passenger as it is in easy reach of the driver.

The X308 is a nice place to be day or night, the ambiance the interior creates is a warm, welcoming one.

I use that switch to move my passenger seat all the time while driving. It is pretty useful.

I have many interior lights out. All of my window switches are out except for the driver's door. Why are the bulbs in almost everyone's J-gate out? Was this a defect? (mine are too except for the red light for selected gear light). Oddly my switches for my front passenger seat still light up though.

Do the UK cars make a chime when the car is started? I remember Jeremy Clarkson criticizing a US spec car b/c it had a chime to remind Americans that they were actually in a car.

Yes, it happens a lot. There is at least one other thread someplace here, re soldering in new bulbs. There might be an LED replacement also, that would last indefinitely.

Mine are out, but haven't got around to fixing them yet.

Default J-Gate good but...

My J-Gate is fine but fuel gauge, climate control screen and various window switches are dim or out completely.

I just called Coventry West to order bulbs for fuel gauge, climate display and window switches (not cheap). Also getting a center cap for wheel. I will pick up on Wednesday. So nice having these guys nearby!

I put one on my 01 XJR.
To do it as the factory did i had to chande the passenger seat harness.
BTW the passenger seat harness that I removed was for a " driver seat, power, non memory"

Default J-Gate bulbs in UK

Not sure if anyone still needs this, but recently replaced the two bulbs in my '99 XJR J-gate illumination module. Sourced from RadioShack UK part no. 272-1154 (12v 50mA Bi-Pin lamp) - a snip at £1.49 each.
There module was removed from the car and soldered in the comfort of my garage.
Any queries, please don't hesitate..........
