Default Jaguar 2003 VDP

I have been told that my 2003 Jaguar built earlier in the year (mine was built in january or Feb 2002 (early 2002 since these cars are usually assembled a year earlier) have an inherent transmission problems and they need to be rebuilt after 50,000 miles. I am also told that they are very unpredicatble after 50,000 miles as to when they will break without a warning. Is that true?
How can one determine what model tranny does my car have?
