Default Jaguar XJ8L and Vanden Plas Side Skirt Quest

Still searching for side skirts for the 99VDP and keep hitting dead ends. Has anyone modified these or can suggest another generic or ???? that will work.

No one has them ?

The later models will not fit the earlier cars ..

any x308 VDP should work ... or the XJL (I would think)

Thanks for the reply but they are not to be found. I have even searched Japan for a kit, Glänz is one but truely nothing. I have come across rarely a SWB set but never a X308 LWB. Bought new rubber for the jack points but still looks off. Looking to cover the rockers, I think it should have come from the factory with skirts. So short of making my own I would like to find a set that I can modify, even from another car or generic.

The Glanz one, as all other aftermarket side skirts, goes over your present steel skirts, they are not a replacement.

I use them, the jacking points one of the reasons to justify them to my wife .

They are still advertised:

There is also a cheap set available in Japan, a copy of Arden.
I personally don't like the shape of their side skirts though.

Chopin the mounts off, weld a flat plate below and use a rubber cupped hydraulic Jack instead. That is at least my plan.

I do like the look of the Glanz skirt but I like Diam's idea of fabricating your own. So the idea is just attach a long plate the length and use jack points to mount. Hmmm

I sort of agree about the jacking points, they do literally let the side down a bit. However if you look at a photo of the old XJ production line, you can see the cars were carried along the production line by those jacking points.

It’s a shame no one ever devised a skirt or sill finisher with prongs that simply slide into the jacking points and lock in place with a simple clip or pin. That way the skirts could easily be removed for jacking, cleaning or maintenance.

Hmm, time for a challenge? Problem is, if you drop the sill to cover those jack inserts, you'd have to lower the front and rear bumper line at the same time. Which is why I will just remove them totally. My car jack is bent anyway and I normally use a little hydraulic one instead...

Is the British English term for rocker panel, side skirt? Just curious.
