Just a Newb question
Sorry if this has been covered before. I searched and didn't find the answer.
Did anyone install the bluetooth in 98 VDP? The car had a phone which I took out (obsolete). I am thinking installing some gizmo, that would integrate with the car audio, and allow me to use the phone buttons on the steering wheel, and the mic on the headliner, to operate my Droid by Motorola. While I'm at it, it would also be nice to play music off of the same phone, or Pandora.
Any experiences and/or opinions are welcome.

Thanks guys! I will not hack my changer (works well, and I don't like too many mods from stock), but that Motorola T605 (milion thanks, never would've found it without you guys!) sounds promising. Can you pls elaborate on its capabilities?
My Droid has a lot of music on (copy of my iPod), and I would like to have the phone out of sight (inside the armrest console maybe), playing music while driving, and answering (or making) phone calls when needed, by using steering wheel controls. It would be also important to have the phone charging while it's in the console.
Question,......you said T605 connects to the existing phone plugs in the center console,......with or without the "module" that is bolted to the bottom of the compartment? I removed that module in order to gain space for the UK specs compartment, which is deeper. Of course I can put it back if needed, but then my UK compartment won't fit, and the stock one has a BIG cutout on the front. I might put the stock back in, if in fact I can have a hook up there that would charge the phone, and let me use it off of the steering wheel.
More info please.

I would REALLY appreciate if someone could post step by step hook up of the bluetooth device. As I said above, I need to know which parts are needed in the centre console to have the phone (and the bluetooth thing) out of sight, and control the phone from the steering wheel. I also intend to play the music off of the phone as I travel, but have no idea how I would find the playlists on the phone. I need some guidance on all this, please.
Never mind!
I missed the EXCELLENT .pdf up above that outlines everything!
However,.....this looks like a job for some car stereo shop. Waaay too complicated for me. And another thing I don't like, is the new mic, and removal of the factory mic, that leaves holes in the console. I'm sure it works well, but I don't like any aftermarket gadgets visible, and especially the control for the 605 on the dash!
Not a purist at all, but that control on the dash is a sore to my eye, and looks like it doesn't belong (which it doesn't!).
Now I'm thinking to reverse the whole thing! Hooking up the original phone (if my carrier can support it!), adding a line to my plan, and transfering my existing number (off of my Droid) to the car. Forward the car number to the new number on the Droid (no need to inform anyone of the new number!), and whenever the incoming call comes in, if I don't pick up in the car,....let's say on the third ring (?), the call gets forwarded to the new number that's in my pocket, wherever I am. How does this sound, and can this be done? Anyone knows?
Opinions/ideas are welcome.
