Keyless Remote Transponder
I've found several Keyless Remotes for Sell on Ebay for my Model of Jaguar. ( 99 XJ8 ) I was wondering, before I buy one, if anyone could walk me through the process of coordinating it with my Vehicle and how to do so etc...or do I strictly have to go to the dealer??? I would really like to pull this off without having to, as I said, the dealer is three hours plus away...grr Anyhoo, I would really appreciate all the kind help!!! Thanks.. RE: Keyless Remote Transponder
This should work. I bought one for $14.00 on Ebay and works great.
Note : All transmitters being serviced must be available. If the learning process is carried out without having all the transmitters present, all previous transmitter codes will be overwritten, rendering the missing transmitters inoperable.Hold headlight flasher back.Turn ignition key to position 1. Flash headlights 4 times. Alarm will enter programming mode. This will be confirmed by "beeps" from the alarm and flashing led on gearshift. Program each transmitter (up to 5) by pressing the lock or unlock button on each transmitter once. The alarm will "honk" when you press the transmitter button. The alarm must honk 5 times to complete the programming. Therefore, if you are only programming one transmitter you should operate the transmitter 5 times. If you are programming two transmitters you will operate one transmitter twice, and three times on the other. For five transmitters you will operate each transmitter once.
Good luck

I have the same car and model year. Have all keys present. Here is the procedure I used:
2001 XJ 1. Open drivers door
2. Hold the highbeam selector arm towards you
3. Insert ignition key and key to first position (acc)
4. Release the high beam selector and then pull and release the high bean
selector 4 times.after the 4th time you will hear a chime.
5. Then press the lock button on each remote to program it in.
