like to purchase extra keys
I believe I am thinking right, that to obtain a couple of extra keys they need to be obtain from a dealership, or can I buy from an on line sight and then have Jaguar cut and program. Vehicle is a 2003 Vanden Plas (X308)
You may not get a dealership to cut an internet key -- Best to give a call.
I had to get one years ago for the 02. I don't remember it being all that expensive .. and my memory is that it's not a smart key -- so they just cut it.
The remotes are a Ford sourced product -- the programing is available online.

My 99 came with 1 key so I needed to come up with a spare, just in case. I bought 2 blanks relatively cheap from ebay, lots of options popped up in the search. I had a local locksmith cut the blanks for $25. Wasn't too hard to locate someone that could cut this type of key.
Then had the dealer program the one I use as a spare, $45. Not exactly sure what the dealer charges for the whole thing but I remember people spending $200+ for an official key.
Sad that the only party really inconvenienced by this special key is a legitimate owner as I'm sure these cars get stolen and the thieves probably don't spend this kind of money, or effort, on the keys...

Just looked at my records .... Time goes by
6/2007 key retail $47.00. Receipt indicates "program key and remote" -- "customer good will NC key & remote " ... Labor $50.00.
I guess the key must have a chip ...

I've been meaning to buy a key here. Not sure if anyone else has had experience with this site and Jag keys. They also have the different type of key for 00-03. Jaguar TBE1T5 XJ-Series 1998-99 / XK-Series 1997-99 (BlueRocket) [BRK-TBE1T5] - $7.89 : American Key Supply, The Locksmith's Source for Keys & Tools
You can also "buy" the labor to cut for i believe 20 for the first and 10 each after. Reading your tibbe code is easy, and you just give them the code to cut to.
Code reading "Tibbe" keys for Jaguar
Then you just have to code the key to your car somehow. Dealership i suppose.

well thanks for all the replies, I called a Jaguar dealer here in Nebraska, closest one about 2hrs away, anyhow the service dept manager gave me a name of a locksmith and said its best to go that route and a heck of a lot cheaper, he also mentioned about buying blanks from like ebay and having the locksmith cut the. the one he told me about comes highly recommended by others. Now that is true service when they recommend going to someone else
Glad they pointed you in the proper direction ---
The link nolanium included in his post is interesting ... When I lost my set, the guy in the parts department took a look at the key and handed it back ... he then went back and made the key. They look complicated -- I guess not.
