Hi all, thanks for allowing me to be here.
Back story, I do not own a Jaguar, but I am trying to help my aunt with hers. She has a 2003 Vanden Plas. I am searching for the driver side rear door lock, hers quit working and was told it was broken.
My question is, are they specific to the Vanden Plas or will any XJ8 lock work correctly?
I have never worked or researched parts for a Jag before.

Greg, it’s mandatory to go introduce yourself in the “new member” section.

You need to remove the door panel. I have “heard” but never tried to use WD40 on the inside and outside of the lock assembly itself. You may need to use quite a bit of it and manually move the lock on the rear door several times.

 

WHAT DRIVER"S SIDE?
The LEFT driver's side or the RIGHT driver's side?

The X300 and X308 door lock actuators are the same. (can be used on either car)

Find a 'good-used' 'driver's side' rear lock actuator and swap it out.

 

Bob, how many RHD X300/308’s have you seen in the USA? His profile is listed as US.

 

Thanks Addicted2boost, I found the intro page! I am told the lock needs replacing. I have not layed eyes on the lock yet. My aunt lives a couple of hours away and was wanting to pick one up here in Phoenix area before heading up there.
I was wanting to find out if the Vanden Plas lock was the same as a regular XJ8 lock.

 

Forgot this was a international forum, left side rear passenger.
I apologize for my lack of knowledge of these vehicles, doing my aunt a favor with this one. I am kind of nervus working on this beautiful car, I am usually working on beat Jeeps, so very little worry about a scratch.
