low coolant warning light won't turn off

RE: low coolant warning light won't turn off
Deos it say "Low Coolant"? If so, and the XJs are anything like our Xks, their is a float sensor inside the expansion tank that can go bad. People have tried to replace just the sensor and ended up with more trouble than it was worth in the end - and ended up replacing the entire tank, which comes with a brand spanking new cap and sensor. Not a large job, you can do this yourself for under $200.
Or does the Message say something else?

Hah well make sure it fits into the correct spot snug. If not, even if you buy a new sensor, it willgive you"Low Coolant". I bought a new sensor while back, andunless it's fitted just right in the hole, it will still give you themessage.Whatever holds the sensor in place (seems like there was some rubber grommet?),came off my 98 XJ8 so my sensor wouldn't even fit back in it's spot. I just attached my old one to the coolant hose right there and bypassed the spot, still works. Guess i'll hold onto the sensor, don't drive the 98 much anymore. Goodluck.
