Default Low Washer Fluid warning

2001 XJR
Low Washer Fluid warning stays on constantly, any ideas on possible causes? Does the washer fluid reservoir have a sensor built in?
The washer itself works fine.

Mucho thanks in advance

Do you have enough fluid in the said reservoir? You're lucky! Mine doesn't tell me when it's low it runs out just when I really need it!! :P I think it may be a sensor issue also, I'll take a good look when I drop the tank out of mine because it has spung a leak and I need the seal it.

I've had this, open the header, there's a float, it's probably stuck in the low position, i just slid the float up and down on its shaft with my finger until it was moving freely, no light afterwards. Another possible cause is a bad sender, this connects underneath the header tank, and pops out. Swop for a good one if fingering doesn't work.

Don't be dirty!! Only Messin!!

Whilst we're on the matter is the tank easy to remove? As I mentioned I have a leak in mine I need to fix and I aim to get the fluid level sensor working again also whilst I'm there.

Ta, Stu.
