Wow...didnt quite expect this many replies. I certainly appreciate the feedback and will absolutely do the cleaning. Not too long ago (about 6 months ago) I removed the throttle body and cleaned it. I did not however clean the TPS connector. I will certainly attempt this later today. Thanks again everyone.

Did the cleaning of the TPS connector...also cleaned the MAF connector and reset the battery for about 30 min. Drove it earlier and so far so good. Real test will be the 17 mile drive to work tomorrow. Again..I appreciate the ideas.

Thanks,

JP

Well well. I just joined you guys. I am in Scotland and on UK Jag forum.
My XJ8 threw a P1111 code IAT intermittent high voltage bla bla. So I bought another Air Mass Sensor. No change. Then, out of the blue ABS light and Track off comes up. So in to dealer. Diagnostic shows faulty wiring or ABS sensor O/S. BUT no P1111 IAT code!
Then they tell me it could be a "wiring thing" and they made "money" noises and sighed - in case it was. They have cleared the codes and now I have to wait and see what happens.
I have read all these threads and get the idea that it could be about poor connections etc. Old battery have anything to do with it do you think.
My Jag' may be 8 years old but its only done 69k miles and its immac!
Best to all

In the Jag (at least my 2000), P1111 simply means "System checks complete since last memory clear" and so is not an issue. What year is yours , 2002?

I have the same code - no problem though.
It instantly shows up after resetting all the fault codes and I read somewhere that this special code is not to worry about.
(I have to say that my MAF Sensor is brand new and this damn code still shows up.)

BTW
@ Mods - Is there no list of Jaguar fault codes somewhere on the FAQ-section of this site?
I could provide one if needed...
I have had a similar issue. Now solved!! Here it is.. the P1111 code is I understand Air Mass only on the X300s not the XJ8. Once the dealer got a diagnostic the code came up reference the wiring to the ABS.... Ooooo! worrying. However my clever chaps at my engineers reckoned that it could be the brake switch on the footbrake pedal and they renewed it!! ( another sympton that showed up was "Track ABS ASC" then ASC shutting down but light on the switch stayed "red".
Since change of switch no "FAILSAFE ENGINE MODE" warnings, no ABS/TRACK/ASC issues.
Hope this helps

P1000 means readiness tests not performed or completed
P1111 means readiness tests completed

This is for ALL JAGUARS with OBDII

It does not matter if GM or Toyota has it listed as some sort of intake air fault.

Jaguar ECM will ALWAYS HAVE P1000 OR P1111 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe a moderator could put this i the FAQs since it comes up frequently and folks will just NOT believe they do not have some expensive P-1111 problem! Especially when their "expert" tells them so>

Putting it in the FAQ will do no good as nobody seems to read them. It is easier to ask a question on the forum than to do some research. Why would I want to read post after post when I can type in a question, come back an hour later and get the answer!!!!

Like the 'rich dad/poor dad' guy says "I was a C student and I just hire other/smarter poeple to do the work"

bob:
How true. Frankly, I am impressed with the patience you and others show when replying to so many things that a simple search would have produced volumes of info. You guys are good examples of genteel behavior for A-holes like me.
