Hi Jag Folks. Could anyone give me an idea why I have x2 metal clips in the top of Passenger window lowered - first of the 2 clips. Same clip - different angle.
my front passenger window (left side of car - as I'm in UK) guide. My cat is a 3.2Ltr XJ(308) that has purred along for about 106k English Country miles. I managed to do a detailed clean-up of all window guides in the 1.5 dry days in the UK this month! and I came across these clips x2 and have absolutely no idea why they might be where they are?
It looks like I could prise them out fairly easily . . but is that a wise thing to do? . . or might the window fallout or the car stop running. Tee Hee! Same clip with the camera flash forced on.
Any words of wisdom very welcome. Cheers . . Stoke Jag Dude
I remember seeing these on some older cars (pre 1965) where the window
glass did not want to align properly against the window rubber gasket. The
addition of that channel guide would aid the sealing of the windows glass into
the window seal.
Hi Randy . . . and thanks for your comments. I can see the thinking behind what you've said an decided pretty much to leave them be as the widow works and runs fine. Maybe the window and or trim has been replaced at some point and these were added during a repair? Cheers Folks
