Gents

Took my XJR to Miami from Largo FL for a 36 Hr visit. Got it up to some reasonably good speeds and boy does it handle like a champ. One piece of advise I have to offer is be careful of road debris. Wound up getting a flat due to a lose tire weight, see attached picture. The flat occurred in the country side area, part of Kendall. Also at the junction of 275 and FL Turnpike a loose piece of a wooden pallet left a nice dent on the right front fender. If I was not paying attention on both occasions could have caused some serious damaged to car and others.....Please be careful when driving these cars at reasonable speeds.

Talking Debris

Wow, that weight must have been going pretty fast to penetrate the tire like that. I had a sort of similar incident coming home to VA from FLA. A truck retread flew off and hit my Jag right in the teeth. Took out the radiator, grille and put a big dent in the hood. Me and my wife and kid ended up staying in a flea bag motel while getting fleeced by some grease monkeys in NC just so I could get her home. The few times I let the wife drive the Jag bad things seem to happen. I know it was unavoidable, but still ... I eventually got everything straight. Sh#t happens.

Shame a good trip gets marred through external problems, just part of it I guess. Thanks for the advise, things happen pretty quick at 'reasonable speeds'

If it's not entrapment what do you consider 'reasonable' ? My main concern at my 'reasonable' speed (140+KPH) is wild life so caution around dusk or early morning.

I don't have an XJR but Jag's are at their best when given a free leash so to speak.

I had to look that one up, 140 KPH = ~ 87 MPH. That is a "reasonable" speed, even though it's over the official speed limit - in the eastern USA anyway, but lot of people do creep up to around there on the major highways. We don't have to worry about kangaroos around here, but the deer can be a problem. ;^)

Thanx. Guys you were within +/- 10 MPH of the speed discussed in posting. Tomorrow I am going back to Goodyear and pick up a replacement tire. They do not stock that size had to order. Thanks to road hazard insurance they are going to replace for free.

Good advice. In December I hit a large truck brake shoe on I 95 between Miami and Ft Lauderdale. I drug it under the rental car for 1/4 mile. No place to pull over. The roads are really bad there
