Default motor oil

what brand of motor oil works well in high temps.

All of them. Use the viscosity recommended by your owner's manual- that's far more important than brand name.

Precisely!
The correct grade for normal temps is 5W40 but for higher ambient temps 10W50 is reccomended...preferably a full synthetic and changed every 10,000 miles.
