01 XJ8 50k miles

thoughts on the type of motor oil? It has only 50k so in theory it isnt high mileage (not 75k miles yet) on the other hand its almost 23 years old.

what are you guys putting in your jags?

I use Mobil1 5w-30 year round in my 01 XJR. 10k mile intervals and it has 157,000 miles on it. I may start using 0w-40 in the summer.

I use ...-40, because I am in Australia (=hot!)

I don't even think that 0W-... is being offered in Australia (it's just never cold here).
Hence, ...-40 is a good idea for summer (but it does not harm in winter, where ...-30 would suffice) and 0W-... is a good idea for winter, but does not harm for summer, where 5W-... or 10W... would suffice).
.If you opt for a broader temp.-band spectrum, you pay extra $s, that's all.
