Well, I had the feeling of what I thought was a bent rim... and then I started hearing weird rubbery sounds... mixed with new tire sticky label to the pavement...

Well, it turns out ALL the BBS bolts were loose but 2 of them.... I'm gonna have to take it to a local wheel refurb place as I don't even have the 12 point tool to tighten them up, and no local stores were open.. 2 stores so far did not have it.... at least ill know if it's really bent or not. With this I'm seriously considering a wheel/caliper color change and removing the trim rings all together.

New Wheel bearing tool came in, I have a spare laying around and I'm going to take it to a local bearing place to have them press it out and new one in... So one side will be ready to swap out and then ill undo the other side with it in the car... probably easier than putting it in a vice.

I cannot WAIT for all the little noises to be gone and just drive this thing with a smile knowing everything is new

This just in... it was just the power steering bolts! They were just sliiigghty loose and it was making the noise... I put some blue lock tight on them and now she purrs quietly again... I guess the 20's, bigger tires and brembo's were a little hard on her haha.... it's always because of something I upgraded it seems.

All this after I already ordered the pump of course, I should probably look at the car first next time instead of assuming the worst.

Got the complete lower control arms for both sides coming.. Really can't beat that deal on ebay.. $199 for both sides and it saves a ton of press work These and wheel bearings going in at the same time to compliment each other.

After this i'm just going to get some shocks... figure out if i want to lower it a bit at the same time.

Upgrading Tranny with blue tops is next, she how a stock R1 package jag does with them in

Well, anyone got a spring compressor tool for rent?

I'd make one but I don't even have a working drill now!

Gotta love it.

I also need a 20x10 detroit wheel, the bolts elongated the holes they pass through in the face/center section... barrel actually looks fine but I want to clean up the threads with a tap.... I also need new bolts. People are insane on the asking price of these... I should probably sell my good 3 wheels with brand new tires and buy something more readily available...

Anyone know the thread pitch on the Titanium BBS bolts? Ha.

Only good news is that I got one new wheel bearing installed already, the local shop wanted the tool so they're doing both sides for the exchange.

So close to being a decent car...

I made the coil spring tool from advance auto work forever.

All you have to do is notch the lower pan's center hole just a little wider to slide the center of this through... you can then bolt the hooks into it inside the spring... this tool will angle with the spring...

I added some thick washers to the bottom... Works like a charm for the rear arm install or new shocks... best of all you rent it and take it back

I also flipped the alinement bolts around since the factory worker put them in before the rack was installed... will be easier from here on out...

Picking up new tie rod ends tomorrow, drop off the drivers side to get the wheel bearing installed...

Next round might go to adjustable sway bar links when I put the new shocks in... I also think I found a new wheel... ill finally have a perfect rolling car soon with no noises but the supercharger whine.

Just so everyone is aware the XK8 wheel bearings are smaller in certain years, So the "new" wheel bearing in this housing I was sent wasn't even for my car, housing was super rusted and needed sand blasted, bearing still needed replaced, I also had to swap bearings out locally for the smaller version as the XJR is bigger.

I opted for the best bearing you can get for this side, I don't think ill have any problems for the life of the car but we'll see.

If you sell something on this forum, SEND THEM WHAT THEY BOUGHT.

BTW... shocks are next... I know they're horrible looking with bad bushings. But I think i'm going to lower it at the same time.

Now I'm waiting on a replacement wheel.

just stumbled upon this thread...looks really good man! the CF brought me back to my car before my XJR ('00 c280 sport) which had all carbon fiber finishes. Not that it can compare to the Jag but I was surprised how good it came out. Makes me wish I had more knowledge under the hood so I can clean every nook and cranny like you did haha. Just out of complete curiosity, how much do you think you put into this project thus far? Between $$ and labor hours....

All I can say is WOW! I just saw the thread and read it from start to finish, that is one special kitty! Sorry to see you go... You're very knowledgeable and thorough. Your admission of OCD is evident in the job you did and it looks FANTASTIC! Kudos to you and I hope you find what you're looking for...

Nice car! I went through every single page and post. Honestly I love the interior. I remember helping a friend wrap his e39 m5 interior with that carbon fiber wrap and it looked real good after. I might consider that wrap later after I get the car running. Did you lower it?

Not yet, I was on the fence on selling it or not to get something for my business, but i'll never get out of it what I have into to it, and I love the car... nothing else like it. So finding a cheap daily is on the list, Then Probably lowering at the same time I get new shocks. It's freezing here though, so i'm going to acquire parts and do it all together when its a little warmer. Can't wait to see it lowered on the BBS wheels

I will be doing little things until then though, just going to keep this project and make it perfect in OEM form. Then move on to mods.

Bump, you answered so many questions I have in this thread. Do you think 10.5" will fit the rear? Have you lowered it yet?

With the right offset it should clear, lots of room on the inside with my wheels.

Haven't done anything but drive it and stack goodies in the corner to go on it.

Still need a truck for my business though, can't fit bikes in a jag lol.

Great, the wheels I'm considering have a 35 offset vs yours having a 25 offset. A 10.5 with a 35 offset would extend an extra 16mm towards the inside and retract 4mm on the outside when compared to bbs Detroits.
What lowering springs are you thinking of going with?

I was going to see if i could make the H&R springs from an x300 work, i know the back will and the front is "supposedly" longer (but the x308 has more weight) and the part numbers on other springs are the same for both cars? Wonder if it even matters... cheap enough to try?

Are they much cheaper?
I saw these on ebay the other day, seems the cheapest of everywhere I've looked, and is the same price as the Mina Gallery site

I had a look back a few pages and saw a few different tyre sizes mentioned. What are you running at the moment, and did you have any guard rub with the 285's on the BBS's?

Oh, and speaking of which, did you manage to find another 20x10 rear, or are you still looking?

i'm on the 285's and you will need to roll the fenders a bit, jag decided they wanted an inch or more metal for a lip haha

The H&R's for the old body style are super cheap. Cheap enough to get custom with
