Default My 1999 3.2 problems

Hi all, I have just brought my first Jag as above, I am really pleased with it overall however it has a few little niggle things with it,
1 the key fob not working and i cant get the car to go into learning mode having followed the info on here,
2 when i put foot on break all the correct lights come on but so does the warning screen saying bulb out?
3 cant open the boot/trunk via the buttons as valet mode is on, and as i dont have a working fob i cant cancle it? I only have the black keys.
4 every now and then she wont start be it hot or cold, she just turns over and over this is in park, but move to N and she will fire up.
5 fuel cover lock not working electronically but does move freely by hand, haven't tested it with raw power yet maybe try tomorrow, so could just be a dead unit and need replacing?

Having said all that I am really happy with the car, smooth engine and gear change, metalwork all good from what i can see. Headlining dropped just above front seats but haven't seen many that aren't the same, shame but for now i can live with it.
i would think most if not all the above been talked about before I just haven't had time to read all the threads as yet.
cheers
Mick

1. The key fobs are well known to wear out, you may be able to find a second hand one on eBay with the same part #. New ones are pricey, but its still cheaper than a dealer.
2. Can't help on this one
3. Once you get #1 covered, this may take care of this one.
4. Not sure on this, but I'd be looking at your park/neutral safety switch.
5. Check the relay in the fuse box it may be bad and may only need replacement or the retraction plunger has gone south and you need a new one. Make sure the cable is moving freely, you can shoot some penetrating fluid down it to loosen up any gummy build up. Also make sure its aligned and not binding.

Overall it sounds like you've bought someone else's problems, albeit not too bad. Everything is fixable depending on skill level and cash flow. I would recommend a type of manual we have here in the states called Haynes (they have vehicle specific manuals). They cover a lot of issues and how to rebuild/fix much of the vehicle.

No, I have a digital download and I use this.. JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource
A member on site here started it, it has schematic breakdowns and such.
