Default my beloved cat

Well, I just picked up my 2001 xj8 greenshadow from the tranny shop, drove out of the parking lot, and a loud banging started, as my luck would have it, they towed it back in, and behold my engine is badly broken. never had any problems since I have had it, no blue smoke, never a drop of oil in the garage. but somehow only 4 quarts of oil in the crankcase. the shop denies any wrong doing of course, having the engine replaced as I am typing. love my car, and hope all ends well. new engine and new tranny...what can go wrong now? hoping nothing. I will keep you posted.. thank you fellow cat lovers.

What else can go wrong ? (you better knock on wood !). What happened to your engine ? Was it the secondary timing chain tensioners ? Best of luck !

Sorry to hear that. What exactly blew in the engine? ...and why a new tranny?

Can't prove it, but, it sure looks like they drained the oil instead of the transmission fluid by mistake, and did not fill back up. no leaks found anywhere, engine never had any problems. new engine should be done this week. tranny was replaced about 2 years ago, and failed about 3 weeks ago. tranny shop said it was a bad drum that was installed and replaced it under warranty. then all hell broke loose with the engine. lol will keep you posted.

I would take that tranny shop to small claims court, if you r engine ran fine before taking it to the shop then they are responsible but good luck proving it
