My busted kitty...
Well, after months and months, I got my '98 XJ8L out of car repair jail.
I had to source the heads that needed to be replaced myself and it still cost a stupid amount of money.
However, I'm glad it's finally home.
I have noticed a couple of t hings. The upper shock mounts are basically gone, so those are next on the list of 'I'll do my self and save a billion bucks'
I do have a couple of questions.
1) where is the diagnostic port on these?
2) While the CEL is not on, I see an amber horizontal light with round ends lit up on instrument cluster. Anybody know what this is?
3) The lights in the dash are telling me that the traction control has a failure.
Can I assume that is because of the worn out bushing on the shocks? Or, is there somewhere else I should be looking?
-Thanks in advance-

Please put your car info in your signature.
The OBD Port is to the right of the steering wheel, under the dash (raise your right knee).
Info on the warning lights are in the Drivers Handbook -- search for it in the stickies.
The condition of the upper shock mounts has no effect on traction control. Replacement upper shock mounts were available at Parts Geek and Rock Auto at a fraction of the dealer cost. I no longer recommend repairing them -- the rubber repair kits rattle when cold. Google it, lots of threads.
