Default Try to never touch or breathe on the 3rd brake light

I learned this on my first XJ8 when I Windexed the rear window soon after I bought it. Just bumped and it disintegrated.
On this one the metal buttons had come off the glass. The light holder had cracks running through it by the rubber pads. I took off the back mainly because it’s easier to slide on the buttons with the back off. I glued the cracks on the holder and then the cat knocked it off my work bench and broke it into three pieces. Fixed that. Then when putting the back on it broke.
On eBay they are $200+ so I got out the epoxy, bonding and paint.

Epoxy

The light holder only had one tab so I have electrical tape running around it.

NOMA is about 100 miles East of me so someday I might do a 'day-trip' out that way to 'go shopping'?

Default Dashboard center trim loose

Cracks expand receptacles when tabs inserted. Third X308 I’ve had with this issue. JB Weld to the rescue.

Finally got around to washing and cheap liquid wax. Could you a good cleaner wax. Looks like a rock went over the bonnet. May be cheaper to find a used one than repair. Milan’s with damage shown. Repairable?

Default Patched rip in arm console

Not great but acceptable. If I find a reasonably priced one, I’ll switch out.

Your 2003 should have the metal hinge cupholder with the flare in the trim cover to allow clearance.
I have a 2002 XJR parts car and the console cupholder has the metal hinges.

My cupholder on the Duchess has suddenly become very stiff. It is like the spring
has suddenly doubled in strength and as a result, it will not stay closed.

I believe, if you took your time, you could knock that bonnet damage out just fine.
The real trick is blending in the paint without having to do the whole bonnet.

Do you think the wire has come off the indents in the first pic in post 52 above? It would seem to me that would make it less tight. On my XK8, the indent on the cupholder cover is broken so when I did the same repair I took the wire out. Looks fine closed but can't really use because it flops too far forward. Replacement ones are getting more rare and more expensive. Years ago I bought one off eBay for under $100. They are now $200 plus. Note: Although they look the same, the XK8 and XJ8 are a differnet size. I think the XK8 is a tad smaller.

The wheels, from what I can tell it might be worth spending some time with the Dremel and some scotch bits, your after knocking the major scratches down then some heavy polishing. It maybe worth the effort instead of costly new trim rings, but as the car is getting better and better, it's your call.

Default Replacing donuts and shock isolators

Top isolators much softer than replacements. Bottom isolators much harder than replacements.
