Actually about double that with auction fees. Saw with a buy it now price of $900 and clicked. "Run and drive" with mechanical problems which could be huge or tiny. Two owner. Has not been registered for 5 years. CarFax has "valve body replaced" 5 years and 92 miles ago. I have a good XJR transmission in my garage if that is the issue. Who knows? I know I will be satisfied and maybe ecstatic when arrives.
That was a big part of my decision. eBay in the UK has two for sale at $390 each plus shipping. They look fine from the pictures but really can't tell if any curb rash. I pretty sure these Milans have a trim ring that is impossible to fix and $$$ to replace. If anyone in my family ever drives her they will be instucted no curb side parking. Even if tires were brand new when she started to sit 5 years ago probably trashed unless on jack stands.
Sort of delivered. Showed up with keys in ignition and doors locked. Driver somehow did after he pulled her off to drop off another car. Goes to his tool box and comes back with two large screwdrivers. I said heck no, get a locksmith.
He left to drive to a locksmith because house call four times the cost. I had to leave for vacation before he got back so detailed repot will be a week.
Does have Brembos. Milans look good. 3 of 4 rings have small dents or rash.
A nylon band strap and a plastic or wood wedge was part of our toolbox kit when I worked at the dealer.
Just wedge the top of the door a little at the top and fold the nylon banding strap over to form a loop.
Slide it down on the back of the window part of the door and catch the 'hourglass' part of the lock post.
PULL BACK HARD AND UP. (door unlocked in a few minutes!)
One of my mechanics had a very slim air bag he once wedged into the driver's door at the corner of my old X300, pumped it up with a little bulb like a blood pressure cuff to force the top of the door open a bit, then used the plastic strap as motorcar man mentioned. Now, how or why the car locked in the garage driveway when I closed the door with the engine running but the car not moving is beyond me. But Mike was able to rescue me!
I can't imagine this "nylon band strap" or how it would grab onto the lock stem with enough friction so as not to slide off. Surely you're not suggesting a large zip tie because that was the first image that came up in my mind, followed by one of those orange or yellow nylon ratchet straps. Photo or link? Just a couple of weeks ago, a friend and I took our 69 Corvettes to a car show and as we arrived and were setting up, the wind blew his door shut and his Corvette was locked with the key still in the ignition. Was easy enough to kinda pull out the frameless window glass half an inch. He bent his antenna into a hook with which we could snag the key ring but given the angle we were unable to leverage the key out of the ignition with that. He called AAA and a tow truck driver showed up with an interesting tool, about a 5 foot long, semi-flexible rod with a rubberized coating that he could bend into any sort of shape. With that, he retrieved the keys in about a minute. Your experience was frustrating, but look on the bright side: at least you didn't have an audience of about 50-60 other car-guys watching and commenting the whole time.
I have unlocked at least half a dozen X308 doors by the PULL BACK HARD AND UP method so there must be enough friction on the thinner part of the lock stem.

You know those packing strips often put around pallets of stuff or to seal boxes? about 1/2" wide & flat. I believe it's those, that's what I've seen used successfully in the past at least.
Hmmm. I was thinking it would need to be something with a sort of a "noose" at one end that could tighten as you pull and maybe kinda rubbery for grip but can't imagine what that would be. I could see the packing strap working on old-school lock posts with the caps at the top. Maybe someday, someone will post a video.

check with a wrecking yard called noma suto parts in texas. Very helpful and a lot of jaguar stuff. Couple pages of rims. Or call them. I used them a few times
Late, late production one of the very last to leave Browns Lane line. I'd be ecstatic with that sat on the drive. Everything you do to it will make it better - a great project!
Having the R1 pack means a few things, it's not just the wheels and brake calipers/Goodridge hoses - there's uprated anti roll bars front and rear, Super Sport suspension with cats.
The engine will have the AJ27S with 4.2 timing chains (morse style) with the later oil pump and all metal timing chain tensioners, so no work needed to the engine, just good service points going forward.
It could have been the ABS pump replaced as they're far more faulty than the MB trans. That will just need a fluid change from sitting, it'll be brown instead of red.
Recommissioning something like this will be a fun thing to do, we don't need to hear moans with that purchase price!
SB wheels in the UK have trim rings, speak to Steve about getting some. When I replaced mine I didn't bond them to the rim as OE does, I just fitted them without and no issues. M8 spline bit for the Ti bolts. BBS America have the valve adaptors, and you can buy replacement valve bodies in the UK for $30iro, usually they just need O rings and threadloc for rebuild.
If you put the time in, that particular car will reflect it, well done!
@Sean B Thanks for the info. Still on vacation in the Smokies. Back Saturday night. I’ll do a full report then after reading codes and checking modules. My adult daughter is dog sitting. I asked her to hook up the scanner but she refused saying I should savor the anticipation.
