My XJ8 doesn't fire
For 2 years using of my x308 4.0 I have not any major problems but now I have it.
The engine cranks but doesn't want fire. The board computer shows a comunicate: Failsafe engine mode. I checked errors by OBD scaner and does not see any codes.
The basics was checked and I know it that there is no sparks because there is lack of ground signal in to ingnition relay.
I can fire engine using trick only:
From ECM move out a ground wire (blue with black points) and enter in to ingnition relay. When i contact ground from car body to this realay (where the blue with black points wire enters) the engine can fire but comunicat on board still exist.
Maybe someone had the same problem. I do not know what can I do having mind there is no any Jaguar workshop near my region.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Does it fire at all, or crank over and over?
What are the compression readings?
What exactly happened the day before and the day you drove?
I don't understand the ground relay statement- you should check if you are getting spark at the plugs.

I would ignore the fuel supply (it doesn't go off instantly, unless it's a fuel pump failure). Pull one plug (after you crank it!), and my bet is that the plug is wet (sure test of your fuel supply!). That leaves the spark. And I'll bet, you don't have a spark. Tracing that can be time consuming. Look up a shop manual on line (or from an Indy), and follow the electricity. Your description of "grounding the relay" is not completely clear, but,......it could be the relay itself, or the engine ground. I know the weather in Poland (rust!), so I would start with cleaning ALL ground points on the car. Once all the grounds are clean, this will eliminate the electric supply (more than 80% in my opinion!) question. When the car has a "sudden" electrical problem, (in my experience!), in most cases it's the ground that's missing.
If the ground points are clean and tight, and still no spark, I would test the coils, throttle position sensor, crankshaft position sensor, and everything else involved in delivery of the electricity to the sparkplugs.
Chances are, once you have an adequate ground, the car will fire.
Good luck.
