mystery rear bulb failure warning
ok , i know the xj40's were famous for this , but its my understanding th x308s had it sorted. driving home tonoght i had the message pop up. when i got home , had the wife operate the brake pedal / signals etc while i looked. i didnt notice anything out , not even the third brake light leds... any ideas? is seems to be intermittent , not everytime i press the brake pedal.
The high mounted stop lamps are NOT LEDs.
The SLCM is the brake light module. (security/locking control module)
There is a thread about replacing the semiconductors for the rear lamps in the module.

take all the bulbs out and clean the contacts of the bulb connectors...it is a pain but sometimes a dirty contact is the cause as in my case...also don't forget the rear marker lights as they can also cause the warning...
I have to say,
that my rear bulb failure was fixed by cleaning one of the bulb sockets. Also the license plate light failure(that was independent of the rear light problem)Was fixed by soldering a broken wire located where the harness bends with the right side hinge of the deck lid.
