Need Assistance- 2004 XJR -Wipers Home Position Up Not Down

My 2004 XJR wipers suddenly decided that up was their home position rather than down. Does anyone know what would cause this and what the repair is?

If same design as '00, just position properly and tighten the nut.

Tried moving the arms but no luck so it must be different than the early ones. I suspect a home position sensor must be bad or moved but I am not sure if this is separate from the motor. I attempted to remove the panel above the wipers but I could not figure out how to remove the windshield side which has a seal attached at the bottom of the windshield. Anyone else no the fix to this problem or how to remove the panel withour destroying the seal?
