Default Need help, Electrical question- 3 door speakers not working on XJR

Question for all of you who are better at these new fangled electronic thingies than me...

I'm looking at a pristine 2000 XJR at a price I can't refuse and the only thing I can find wrong is that the passenger door and two rear door speakers do not work. The drivers door speaker works, both tweeters in the A pillars work, and the sub woofer works.

Any ideas why they do not work?
Is there any common problems for these?

Any help would be appreciated

Jeff

Jeff,

Is it definitely component failure and not the Balance set to Right and Fade set to Front by the PO?

I did test the left, then right, then front, then rear. The A piller tweeters both work, left and right.

I suppose it could be that 3 of the speakers have failed, but I am afraid it is something more than that...

Hi,
Almost certainly component failure. Happened on my XJ too. I would buy 4 speakers and fit them yourself, easy job to do and will save money by not having someone else doing it.

Most likely failed speakers... mine had two blown voice coils when I got it.

If that's the only fault on the vehicle, you should be off to do the deal by now.

For sure, the rest of the car looks like it just rolled off the factory line, even if I had to replace the entire stereo system, it would not have stopped me from buying the car. Doing the deal in 8 ours and 3 minutes, and counting

I'll post photos and such before I start molesting stuff under the hood.
