Default Need help with hitch wiring please!

I'm getting a hitch installed on my 2001 XJ8 VDP. I bought the wiring kit (Curt Powered Taillight Converter part # 56146) and I need some help with the color codes at taillights. I got six wires going to the vehicle taillights (black-battery, green-right turn, red-stop, yellow-left turn, brown-tail/parking and white-ground) - I need the coresponding wire colors for vehicle.Thanks

Exclamation

I'm going NUTS !!!

Here's the wiring on the vehicle by colors:
LEFT TAIL LAMP:
Stop - Blue
Tail - Red
Left Turn - Green/White
RIGHT TAIL LAMP:
Stop - Orange/Yellow
Tail - Red/White
Right Turn - Green/Orange

The tail light converter that I got from CURT (part # 56146) has these wires going to the ones above:
+12v battery - Black
Right turn - Green
Stop - Red
Left Turn - Yellow
Tail - Brown
Ground - White

Which one goes where? Am I missing something? It does not make any sense PLEASE HELP

I might be wrong but I don't think you need the converter from what you described

Yellow = green white left side
Green= green orange right side
Red= left blue or right orange/yellow any side doesn't matter
Brown= left red or right red/white doesn't matter
White = ground chassis
Black = battery positive

Hope that helps

Look at your wiring diagram again.

It may be preferable to use the built in trailer lighting harness if the car is equipped with one.

Hi, not sure if I'm alone on this, but I'm trying to install a trailer wiring kit on my 04 xj8. I've located the hot side to the turn signals and running lights (using the rt rear side marker). I can't figure out the brake lights. The LEDs are the issue. Everything runs through the rear computer control module, making it tough to sort out.

Any thoughts on how to fix this issue?

thanks.
Jim
