I replaced the ICs but there was no change - the break light still didn't come on. I opted to tie the right break light to the trunk break light. The procedure is described elsewhere in the forum. The SLCM for your car is part number sensitive for your cars specific electronic system. If you desire to buy a replacement SLCM replace it with one with matching numbers. The number is on the paper label on the inside the trunk under the floor to the rear. As for the bypass to the trunk light - it's worked ever since. You won't get a light fail warning, though. Minor inconvenience.
As for the parts from China. The part numbers are correct. There are two parts that look identical but have different PN#. Inexpensive to get the minimum order compared to the cost of the SLCM. You'll need a temp controlled soldering pencil, solder sucker, liquid flux, 20% silver solder and the skill for component level circuit board repair.

Thanks for the info, at least now people will be able to know that if they need those part numbers to replace the ic's the one's from china with out the pics are it, it was driving me crazy not knowing...
