Default Need some help finding power steering reservoir hoses for my XJR 100

Happy Monday everyone So I am getting ready to do a whole bunch of preventative maintenance on my car, as well as some stuff that I actually need to do. One of the latter tasks is replacing the power steering reservoir. Mine appears to have a minor leak somewhere. While it is not something major, I just can't stand to have any leaks on my cars. Which is why I am also replacing the valve cover gaskets, because both of them have minor leaks. Anyway, I ended up finding a NOS power steering reservoir in the U.K., which is now on its way. But I would also like to replace both of the hoses that come off of the reservoir. One is ok, but the other is pretty ratty looking. Finding both of those hoses is my issue, and the reason why I started this thread. I've checked eBay, eBay.co.uk, PartsGeek, Rock Auto, NAPA, Autozone, Advance Auto, Jag Bits, and I've done several forum searches using various search terms. I am only able to find one of the two hoses. The various sites have different names for it, but it's the same hose. Am I doing something wrong when I am searching for this hose? Or does no one make them anymore?

If it's hose 6, part# MNC3980AE - Jaguar have them at £25...

When looking for parts, it's a good call to check with the manufacturer and their own Heritage Trust website.

Thank you both for replying. Yeah, that hose that you guys linked to is the one that I was finding everywhere. The diagram that Sean posted was also very useful. I had no idea that the other hose was integral to the power steering cooler assembly. That explains why I couldn't find it anywhere! Unfortunately, that is the hose that is ratty looking. So it looks like I will be replacing the cooler soon as well

Default Welcome to the XJR-100 World

I made a hose to run from the cooler to the reservoir. 5/16 (8mm) fuel hose from the cooler sleeved with 5/8 heater hose. It was a tight fit so use some sort of lubricant. I used PEX clamps on the ends of the inner hose. The fitting to the reservoir required at least 7/16 hose (tight fit); 1/2 might be better. It's probably the same amount of work; still have to remove the bumper to get at the stuff, but you're not R&R'ing the whole piece, and it's a lot less expensive.

Thanks for the tip. I may end up doing that. I only found one place selling the complete unit, and they wanted around $450 for it

Most places that fix trucks and heavy equipment can fix hydraulic hoses -- have done this in the past. They have the proper hose and crimpers ...

I would look for a solution before I spent $400. Finding a good used cooling assemble may be a possibility -- it's not a common failure item. I have some PS hoses on cars that are 40+ years old ... getting a good one is key.

If you have a Napa parts store near you take them the hose they will take it apart using the fittings and replace the hose

Default Similar Issue

I had a power steering leak and it looks to just be the suction hose(MNC3980AE) that is unless the leak is shooting up or coming down the reservoir, but much too isolated for that I think.

I might take it off tonight and inspect it. In the meantime I have a replacement on the way.

Any pointers for the job? How about recommended replacement PS fluid?

Thank you in advance.
