Default Need urgent help about rear axle(final drive unit)oil

My rear axle of my 98 xjr was leaking so I change th O ring. According to the manual the oil is for life... Do any one know what type of oil should I replace.. The original oil is red colour and very thick! Talk to the machanic usually they put a oil grade 90, but it to light. It seem like the grade 140 is more thick and quite like original> Please advice
Regards,
Jimmy

Spirax 90 is unobtainable.
I have used a 50% mixture of synthetic Mobil 75-90 and Valvoline blended 85W-140.
I used the heavier oil to compensate for any gear wear.
Will probably use synthetic 75W-140 in future.

I used Valvoline 75W90 pure synthetic in mine; 20,000+ miles later, no problems.

Default Thank You for your all advice

Thank you all for your kind advice, my jaguar dealer is close for new year. It very strange that they ran out of this oil for jaguar rear axle and have to oder them. I want my car before new year so i don't want to wait, According to the dealer you cannot use any other oil(is it really that special). I plan to put Vavoline synthetic 75/90. Now I had time to think over the new year....................Do I really have to use that original(so special) oil?
