Question Newbie Question: Projector Xenons and Navi

Hello,

Newbie here with some questions that I am sure others have contemplated acting on or figured out the ideal solution.

1) Xenon HID : Is it possible to retrofit the 03XJR with the 04 up OEM Xenon projectors ? Looking to make this mod but don't want to simply add the xenon bulbs to existing headlight housing as it is not the right thing to do.

2) Navigation: Is it possible to retrofit a double din Navigation to the 03 XJR ? Not sure if the S Type navi or 04 and up XJ navi can be retrofitted into the 03 XKR ?

I would sincerely help any direction on these two questions.

Cheers

Not sure on the Navi but I can help with the xenons.

You can't just put the newer headlights onto your XJR, you would have to take out the projector from the newer lights and modify your current lights to make it work. With that said I dont recommend that as the VALEO projectors fitted to the newer XJ's are junk compared to other projectors.

Your best bang for the buck projector would be clear lensed Acura TSX projectors, they are relatively cheap at around $220 shipped and have a great cut-off, good width, and nice throw (distance).

You have to separate your headlights, remove the reflector, and modify it to mount the TSX projector, then line it up so the cutoff is straight. You would then have to get a shroud, trim and modify it to fit into your housing, then close everything up and mount. I have done a total of 5 HID Retrofits, I'll post pictures for you shortly.

These pics are from my 2008 Civic, but the concept is the same for all cars. If you are interest and have the money, I can possibly make a set for you.

Thanks Strateloss. If you don't mind can you also post some of pics of your Jag with this modification ? Also, will I need to send you my headlight assembly for this project. Please PM me the pricing details. I had this done on my Mercedes and used the Audi RS6 projectors and the beam pattern and brightness in awesome. Look forward to your response.

Cheers

I havent modified my Jaguar with retrofits, I am just going to put the oem Xenon lights since I have an 04.

I definately do not recommend the RS6 projectors either, they are the exact same valeos found in the XJ and S-type.

Yea I would need your headlight assembly's to do this. The price on my end wont be high at all, the parts can get pricey. I'll send you a PM with more details.

Hi Britrover

The Sat Nav upgrade can be done.... see this post :

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=27520

although as you can see it is far from straightforward. The main issue is that there is not enough room behind the current stereo to install a double din, although there is enough space on the front panel for the double din face plate.

AlexDs method is very clever, but you have to have guts to start ripping apart a brand new sat nav system.

Sure, Look into retrofits more over on hidplanet.com and see if its worth the expense to you. The parts are costly.

Britrover, you need more than 5 posts before you can PM a member. Its a security measure, so reply a couple more times here and you should be fine to contact Strateloss.
