Niggly Wash/Wiper Query
Hi,
Just wondered if anyone shared the same niggly thought as me and has come up with a fix?
When activating the wash/wipe function the wiper makes a full swipe (or more) across a dry (and sometimes abrasive dusty) windscreen before any fluid emerges from the arm mounted jet unit.
Has anyone figured a way to delay the wipe action during 'wash/wipe' by a second or two thus ensuring the cleaning fluid is being dispensed on the screen before the wiper begins moving?
Petty I know, but it may help eliminate some of the scuffs / scratches left by the wiper blade on my screen.

sounds like you have a leaky one way valve on the wiper arm fluid tube, not sure where mine was, or if it's even built into the motor.
It shuts off water from falling back down to the res, and should spray water as soon as you kit the button, if you listen closely while someone activates the button, you'll hear the pump motor, but your not getting it at the screen...
It can also be a furred artery - the tube running from pump to wiper arm snakes around try and locate it's path and see if it's kinked also. I've replaced mine for new (almost everything on the car....another story...) I think I used surgical hose called tygon, something supposed to be very good quality, I can see the fluid track from pump to arm.

Hmm, Cheers Sean.
The incorporation of a non-return valve close to the pump / reservoir hadn't occurred to me, but makes perfect sense providing there's no upstream leakage.
I'll look into that one...
